Hiring qualified caregivers
Our Personal Care Attendants provide compassionate, hands-on support that helps clients live safely and comfortably at home. PCAs assist with essential daily activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, mobility, and personal hygiene, while also offering companionship and encouragement. They work closely with each client — and their families — to follow individualized care plans that respect personal preferences, promote independence, and maintain dignity. At Miles of Smiles, every PCA is trained, background-checked, and dedicated to delivering care that is both professional and personal.
Duties of a Personal Care Attendant (PCA)
- Assisting with bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Helping with mobility, transfers, and positioning
- Supporting personal hygiene and toileting needs
- Preparing and serving meals according to dietary needs
- Providing medication reminders (non-medical)
- Light housekeeping, laundry, and home organization
- Running errands and grocery shopping
- Accompanying clients to appointments and social activities
- Observing and reporting changes in the client’s condition to supervisors
Qualifications
- A caring, patient, and respectful attitude toward clients of all backgrounds
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to follow individualized care plans and supervisor instructions
- Physical ability to assist with lifting, transfers, and mobility support
- Reliable transportation to and from client locations
- A valid driver’s license (if required for transportation duties
- Completion of a background check and reference verification
- PCA certification (preferred but not always required — training available for qualified applicants)
- Experience in home care, caregiving, or healthcare settings (preferred)
